Now a days celebrating a festival seems to do more harm than help. Each and every festival is associated with pollution. Think about the amount of noise and debris involved on Diwali day does it not point to sound and land pollution? If you talk about Ganesh chathurthi, it involves a lot water pollution taking place . Same is the case when we celebrate Dassera. Holi is no less , it not only pollutes but the chemicals involved harm both men and plants..... a reason to worry.
So let's think before we celebrate the festivals. They can be celebrated in a peaceful manner by doing social work . The lakhs of money involved can be used for laying proper roads in their area , by cleaning garbages and slums, constructing proper schools and hospitals for the unprivileged ,educating a poor child, blood donation etc . For this to happen govt should take the proper step It should give incentives to people who avoid pollution and participate in social work. That might bring a change in the attitude of the people.
